How much did it COST, and how to get a ring like Prince Harry's Engagement ring.

Royal rumourmongers, fairy tale lovers and fans of the “special relationship” between the UK and United States of America, can breathe a joint sigh of relief: our very own Prince Harry, and his new fiancée, the American actress Meghan Markle, became engaged in London earlier this month. Harry proposed with a ring he designed himself (instant brownie points Guys!) A jaw-dropping cushion cut diamond and side stones from his Mother Princess Diana. A ring that uniquely blends the past, present and future ambitions of this extraordinary couple. While not everyone loves the yellow gold band on Megan – rumour is it’s her favourite. Well done for sussing that one out Harry.

Getting a ring fit for a Princess.

If you’re a fan of Suits you’ll recognise Megan as a paralegal in the show or one of her Hollywood films, Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me and Horrible Bosses.

Besides acting, Markle is an active human rights campaigns and has been a powerful advocate for gender equality as part of UN Women helping women to feel empowered.

And there is her very popular fashion blog — Meghan’s Mirror — that chronicles her style choices daily. Even Vogue has got involved and has a piece online - she is one talented woman!

What about our charming Harry? He flies Apache Helicopters, has trekked to the North Pole with wounded Army veterans and is now engaged to the stunning MM.

So how much is it worth?

It’s by no means small. And Prince Harry won't be on a budget. But that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a D Flawless (The rarest most expensive)

We’d estimate Harry to have spent around £100,000 on his 3-4 carat centre diamond. The two round side diamonds are about 0.7 carat each and preloved by his mother The Princess of Wales. The total value of Harry's ring is likely to be around the £120,000. Guys, you can emulate this exact size / look for £40,000 – less if you're clever with compromise.

Is there nothing this remarkable action man cannot do? Well - Guys you too can pop the qu with all-the-gravitas of a Prince.

To top this off he has helped design an exquisite cushion diamond ring and one that's been sourced from Botswana, where he visited several times as a child and more recently alongside his future bride to be.

More than anything, the specialness of this diamond ring design is that Harry has elected to keep the memory of his mother Princess Diana alive by combining two side stones from her personal collection.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Harry said that the two accent stones belonged to his mother “to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together”.

Talking of crazy journey’s, the couple met after meeting in July 2016 meeting through mutual friends in London and had to deal with a ridiculous amount of negative press - including nightly legal battles keeping reporters from to trying to get into her home and the harassment of nearly every friend and loved one. Horrific.

Welcome to the Royal family Megan!

Is there any chance of seeing King Harry and Queen Megan? The short answer is no unlike Kate, Ms Markle is not a future queen. With the arrival of the Cambridge’s' children, Harry is way too far down the line of succession to have a chance of being monarch.

Ms Markle will most probably become HRH the Duchess of Sussex, if Harry is made the Duke of Sussex by the Queen on the morning of his wedding.

Fortunately guys, there is no need to be able to fly an Apache helicopter or to impress the woman of your dreams. The good news is that this level of Royal detail and personalisation is achievable for all you princes out there!

How he asked?

Over a roast chicken. No shut down of the Royal Albert hall – no grand gestures, just down on one knee complete surprise over cooking-a-roast. Simply, intimate. Really romantic.

Guys, going the extra mile is buying her something bespoke. The thought will mean the world to your partner and be a constant reminder that you have really gone the distance to choose her.
